Knowledge Cutoff
The date after which an AI model has no information, because its training data ends there.

Every AI model is trained on a fixed snapshot of text up to a certain date — its knowledge cutoff. Anything that happened after that date is unknown to the model unless it's given live web access or updated documents.
02 Why It Matters
This is why an AI might confidently tell you outdated information as if it were current — always check a model's knowledge cutoff before asking about recent events.

A model with a 2025 knowledge cutoff won't know about a product launched in 2026 unless it can search the web.
